THE FOUNDER

The person who designed your trip should be the one who answers for it.

My name is Karim Errachiki. I was born and raised in Morocco, I live in Virginia, and for close to ten years I've directed tours across my own country and beyond.

That double life is the whole reason Origin Roads exists. I know what an American traveller expects from a trip that costs several thousand dollars — the clarity, the responsiveness, the sense that someone is accountable. And I know Morocco the way you only can if you grew up in it: the languages, the families, the back roads, the makers, and yes, the tricks played on visitors who don't know better.

Most companies have one of those things. Local operators have the relationships. International brands have the trust. I built a company to have both.

WHY ORIGIN ROADS

Why I started this

For years I watched travellers arrive in Morocco with two weeks and a lot of hope, and leave having mostly seen the outside of the country. Usually not because they'd chosen badly — a trip built to move quickly can only go so deep.

I also saw what happens the other way, when someone is genuinely let into a place. A weaver in the Middle Atlas explaining her pattern as a kind of writing. Twelve strangers becoming a table of friends over a shared tagine. That's not a marketing story. It's what happens when the group is small enough and the host belongs there.

So I built the company I always wished travellers could find.
HOW I WORK

How I work

I host the departures myself. Not a contractor, not a rotating leader — me, from the airport on Day 1 to the airport on Day 14.

I walk and re-walk every mile of a journey before a single traveller arrives. I sleep in the rooms. I eat the meals. If a property, a guide, or a stop doesn't hold up, it comes out of the itinerary, even if it costs me.

I don't hand my group over to another leader in another city. Licensed local guides for monuments and museums, yes — that's a different job, and they're better at it than I am. But the person hosting your trip stays the same person for fourteen days.

Before you book, you can call me. Ask anything — including whether this trip is wrong for you. I'd rather have that conversation early than have you arrive on the wrong journey.

Brahim Errachiki

Morocco Destination Expert

My father. He runs our ground operation out of Marrakech, and his network of drivers, hosts, riads, and artisans is what makes these journeys possible. Those are relationships that take an outsider years to build and he's spent a lifetime building them. When a road, a permit, a craftsman, or a perfect lunch needs to materialise, Brahim is the reason it does — quietly, before you ever notice it needed to.

Two generations, one family, one name on the door. It's also why you'll end up at a family dinner table in Marrakech — that's not a product we designed. It's just what we do.
